Teeth reshaping

The shape of our individual teeth will affect the appearance of your overall smile and face. Typically you don’t have control over the natural shape of your teeth, in some cases you may work hard on keeping them in good condition and employ a daily hygiene routine but you might not be happy with the overall shape of your teeth. Sometimes one tooth is drastically smaller than the surrounding teeth or you are unhappy with a small number of your teeth in your smile. In other situations, you may want a complete smile makeover to transform the appearance of your teeth and smile.

What are my teeth reshaping options?

Every smile is different so it is important that you come in for a personalised consultation so we can discuss the best options to shape your new smile. In most cases, patients wishing to reshape their natural teeth are offered the options of Porcelain veneers and dental bonding.

Porcelain veneers

Veneers are used in teeth reshaping as they are a minimally invasive way to improve the appearance of your teeth. This is ideal when misshapen teeth are structurally healthy. Veneers are ultra-thin porcelain shells that are bonded to the front of teeth changing the visual appearance without changing the structure underneath. This means teeth which are disproportionate, mishapen, chipped or damaged aesthetically can be covered up to improve the appearance.

Any underlying issues will first be treated to ensure the longevity of the veneers. Once your teeth are deemed healthy, the veneers will be colour matched for consistency and bonded to your teeth after some preparation. This will take two visits as the veneers are custom-made in an external lab.

Dental bonding

Dental bonding works in a similar manner to porcelain veneers. It masks imperfections creating the illusion of perfectly straight, white and aesthetically appealing natural teeth. Dental bonding is made from a composite resin material which can be placed directly on the tooth and does not require any preparation or external lab creation. The composite bonding comes in a range of white colours and can be colour matched to your remaining natural teeth.
