Braces

A straight smile influences far more than your appearance. It can improve your comfort, confidence and long-term oral health.

At The Point Dental, we view orthodontics as more than a cosmetic treatment. Braces help restore balance to your bite, support healthier function and create lasting confidence. Whether it is your child’s first orthodontic visit or you are an adult ready to make a change, there is always a good time to begin.

Braces remain the most dependable orthodontic solution for complex alignment needs. They allow precise control over tooth movement, making them especially effective for rotations, bite correction, and jaw-related concerns.

Who Braces Are For

Braces are suited to people who need a reliable and structured approach to correcting more complex alignment and bite concerns. They are often recommended when precise control is required, helping guide teeth into healthier positions while supporting long-term function and stability.

Children (Ages 7-9)

Around 1 in 3 Australian children will need orthodontic treatment such as braces or aligners. Starting early helps guide jaw growth, make room for adult teeth, and prevent crowding before it begins. Early checks often mean simpler treatment later. This stage is called interceptive orthodontics, where you use appliances to expand the palate to allow room for teeth eruption and reduce extractions in the future, or correct bite issues (eg crossbite) early.

Teens (Age 12-17)

The teenage years are the most common time for braces. As growth continues, braces can efficiently align teeth and correct bite issues. Treatment usually lasts 18–24 months, and our calm, supportive approach helps teens stay confident and involved.

Adults (18+)

It’s never too late for a straighter smile. Most adults complete treatment in 12–24 months, and we also offer clear aligners for those who prefer a removable, nearly invisible option.

No matter your age or stage in life, braces can help you achieve a healthier, more confident smile. Our experienced team at The Point Dental will guide you every step of the way.

Types of Braces

No two smiles are the same, so your treatment shouldn’t be either.

Each type of braces works differently. Some give maximum control for complex movements, others focus on subtle aesthetics or day-to-day flexibility.

Ceramic Braces

Tooth-coloured brackets for a more discreet look. These are prone to staining. (Not recommended if you have a high tannin diet, eg wine, red sauces, currys etc)

Lingual Braces

Placed behind your teeth for a completely invisible appearance. This requires regular maintenance visits and can be more uncomfortable.

Invisalign & Clear Aligners

Nearly invisible and removable; perfect for flexibility.

Process

Your braces journey is planned carefully and carried out step by step. Each stage is designed to move your teeth safely and predictably for the best long-term results.

What Braces Can Correct

Braces and aligners do more than straighten teeth. They help correct the underlying issues that affect your bite, comfort and long-term oral health.

Common concerns include

Crowded Teeth

When teeth overlap due to lack of space.

Gaps Between Teeth

Spaces that affect appearance or create areas where food becomes trapped.

Overbite

When the upper teeth sit noticeably forward over the lower teeth.

Underbite

When the lower teeth extend beyond the upper teeth.

Crossbite

When upper and lower teeth don’t align properly, often causing uneven wear.

Open Bite

When the upper and lower teeth don’t meet when biting down.

By addressing these issues, braces improve function, balance and long-term stability, not just appearance.

Pricing and Payment Options

Braces at The Point Dental start from $5,000, with most treatments ranging between $4990-9900 depending on your needs and the type of braces you choose.

We provide a clear, itemised quote before treatment begins so you know exactly what to expect. There are no surprises and no hidden fees.

To make treatment more accessible, we offer flexible, interest free payment plans, starting from around $55pw per week depending on the length of treatment and the up front payment portion you choose.

If you have private health insurance with orthodontic cover, you may be able to claim part of your treatment cost. Some family or extras policies include additional orthodontic benefits for children. We will provide the item numbers and receipts needed for you to submit a claim to your fund.

During your consultation, we explain all costs in detail, including payment plan and health fund options, so you can make an informed decision that suits your budget and your family.

The Importance of the Right Approach

Speed is not the goal in orthodontics. Moving teeth too quickly can damage roots, and even lead to tooth loss over time.

Our approach focuses on precision, protection and lasting stability rather than shortcuts. Every case is digitally planned, monitored in 3D and adjusted at a pace that supports your unique biology.

A healthy smile should last, not simply look straight for a short period of time.
