I wake up with a headache
Do you wake up with a headache? A sore jaw? Feel as though there is pressure on your teeth? Grinding or clenching of the teeth during sleep can cause substantial damage to your dental health long term. Apart from causing discomfort, teeth grinding gradually wear teeth down causing a range of dental issues later on down the track.
Teeth grinding can be the result of genetics or due to teeth not fitting together properly in the mouth, this results in ‘bad posture’ for the jaw causing headaches and muscular pain around the head and neck.
What are my options?
Whatever the damage is, if you grind your teeth at night, we highly recommend that you visit our clinic to speak with a dentist for a complete check up on your oral health and assess your condition. Most tooth damage related to grinding is preventable if detected early. At The Point Dental we offer the option of custom made night guards to help protect teeth from the damage associated with grinding. When you come in for an appointment we will also assess your bite to ensure it correct function.
